Google Maps Navigation available officially for Android 1.6 Donut

November 23rd, 2009 | Posted in Mobile Phones, Softwares | No Comments »

google-maps-navigationGoogle Maps Navigation was available till now (officially at least) only for Android 2.0, and therefore in this case on the Motorola Droid. The free Google GPS mobile software is now available on Android 1.6.

Google has announced the availability on the Android Market for an update of Google Maps which adds the famous Google Maps Navigation feature that will turn your gPhone into a GPS, but is only functional in the U.S. (at least officially).

This update also adds the Layers feature, which lets you add geographic information on the map, such as data from Wikipedia.

Google Maps becomes clearly an app killer… But wasn’t it already?
