Intel Arrandale: new range of mobile processors

November 3rd, 2009 | Posted in Peripherals | No Comments »

intel-logoIntel, manufacturer that dominates the world market of microprocessors, will launch its new mobile processor models Arrandale for new mobile platforms.

Among the five models that will be launched, we find the Core i7 620 UM and Core i7 640 UM, respectively clocked at 1.06 and 1.2 GHz, or 2 and 2.26 GHz in Turbo mode, which will be used in ultraportable laptops.

Taking advantage of a fine engraving of 32 nanometers (1 nanometer is 10^-9 meters), these dual core chips announce a FSB at 1,066 MHz, 2 x 64 KB of memory cache of first level, 2 x 256 KB cache of second level, 4MB cache of third level, as well as an integrated graphics part.

As for their TDP (Thermal Design Power), it peaks at only 18 watts according to Intel, which promises computers, PC or Mac, power efficient, and therefore a standby time particularly interesting. But we will be sure during the first tests of these new generation mobile processors.

For this, we will have to wait until the first quarter of 2010, when mass production begins and when the first computers will arrive.
