Canon has updated its line of HD camcorders and one that has caught our attention is the Vixia HF S21. It is a 1080p camcorder with a 10x optical zoom. It includes 64GB of flash memory, but also two SD slots (SDXC). SDXC cards are not yet on the market, but can support up to a maximum capacity of 2TB. When the internal storage arrives at its end, the camcorder will automatically switch to the SD slots – without interruption or visible artifacts! Canon has also added a stabilizing electron image “SuperRange” (zoom mode) that can take pictures zoomed more stable. The HD camcorder records in AVCHD, but it can now convert files in MPEG4, a format more friendly in terms of storage and compatibility (YouTube etc…). This is a great feature. The conversion speed is almost in “real time” as 1 minute of video take 1 minute to convert. And finally, Canon has added a Touch interface replacing the joystick that existed in previous camcorders.
