With seven million sales in one day, Call of Duty 6 beats the record of GTA IV

This figure has been confirmed by the publisher, remained unreachable. If these prove actual sales, the sixth episode of Call of Duty smashing the previous record of the video game the most quickly sold, in April 29, 2008 by Gran Theft Auto IV, of four million units during its first day of marketing.

Of the seven million copies purchased, 4.7 million were sold in the United States and England, according to the English subsidiary of Activision. Call of Duty 6 achieves a historic launch in the United Kingdom with 1.23 million copies sold and £47 million of revenue (approximately €52 million). The war game easily passes before GTA IV which has found 613,000 buyers on the day of its release and reported £27.2 million, equivalent to €30 million. In total, the game has resulted in these two countries the sum of $310 million in revenue (€207.6 million).

The Xbox 360 system alone achieved 55% of sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. 33% of gamers would prefer the Nintendo console, the PS3, and 12% the PC version.

Patiently awaited by the gaming community, the new Activision game was announced as a future bestseller even before its release. Analysts said sales should reach 10 million copies after its first week of launch, with 5.5 million with the Xbox 360. GTA IV had reached 8.5 million sales in one month and had to wait four months to achieve the 10 million sales.

Activision is preparing Call of Duty 7 for Fall 2010

callofdutyActivision has made official during the presentation of its financial results for the launching of the seventh part of its War game Call of Duty. Scheduled for fall 2010, the game will be developed by the Treyarch studio, already in charge of the third and fifth episodes. According to early leaks of the specialized site Gamespot.com, the new episode could be moved from the battlefields of the Second World War and take place during the Cold War.

While waiting to know the plot of Call of Duty 7, Activision will deliver next November 10 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 the sixth part of its series sold over 35 million copies since its appearance in 2003. Highly anticipated by gamers, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 could make a historical start according to specialist dealers and analysts.

The title will follow the fourth episode, released in 2007 and currently sold worldwide with 13 million units. Like its predecessor, Call of Duty 6 will be held in the near future. The player must again thwart the plans of Russian terrorists.
