Buffalo has introduced its latest NAS, the TeraStation TS-XEL/R5. This Network Attached Storage (NAS) is available in 2TB, 4TB and 6TB capacities and can support up to 4 SATA hard drives in RAID 0, RAID 5, RAID 5 or 10. The NAS has an LCD display, 2 USB 2.0 ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet and can support hot-swapping, Time Machine of Apple and Active Directory Services. The TeraStation TS-XEL/R5 NAS will be launched in Japan this month for a price of $946 (2TB), $1,180 (4TB) and $1,535 (6TB).

Looks like Buffalo has adopted the USB 3.0, and after its USB 3.0 external hard drive, here’s the BR-X1216U3 USB 3.0 Blu-ray burner. Supports burning speeds of up to 12x for Blu-ray single or dual layer, the USB 3.0 will certainly help to reduce the time of writing. It is backward compatible with USB 2.0, so be quiet. This product is sold in Japan for about 39,100 yen ($449). It’s expensive, but it is at the forefront of technology, right?

It looks like we will see more and more USB 3.0 devices next year, and Buffalo will certainly be among the first with its DriveStation HD-HXU3 external hard drive. The main feature of the hard drive is clearly its support for USB 3.0, which means transfer speeds of up to 625MB/s, far superior to USB 2.0 or even FireWire. Buffalo has released its latest external CD/DVD burner and Blu-ray PX68U2-BR-BK can play your Blu-ray, in addition to managing the DVDs and audio CDs. This external USB 2.0 burner can read and burn BD-R/RE Gold BD-R LTH 1 discs to a maximum speed of 6x and 4x for BD-R/RE or BD-R LTH 2 discs. It will cost a price of about €230 when it is available.
