At a price of €1550, the Leica X1 digital camera is certainly at a price softer than the M8 came out a year ago and half (€5000), but intended all along to a small fringe of passionate photographers. Mythical brand of the silver era, Leica badly negotiated the turn of the digital. Its M8, digital rangefinder successor of the legendary M-series, had failed to convince with its sensor factor x1.33, and noise from 800 ISO, and its astronomical price of €5,000. The German brand is shaking up the chips and has three digital cameras, including the X1, the first real “accessible” Leica digital camera.
