HiVision SpeedPad Android tablet at CeBIT 2010

HiVision is present at CeBIT 2010 and it displays its new 7-inch tablet that runs under Android, and icing on the cake, it will cost a price of only $100. At least that’s what the manufacturer promised. We know that the tablet of HiVision will feature a Samsung 6410 800MHz processor, 2GB of internal memory, 256MB of RAM, Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth support, GPS and a battery life of 6 hours.

2010 is the year of the tablet, with the launch of the iPad, but the last luxury toy of Apple has nothing in common with the new Panasonic ToughBook C1, the “lightest 12.1″ convertible tablet PC in the world”, which will provide good performance in all situations: in your couch, in inclement weather and extreme environments. Panasonic has launched the ToughBook H1 Field tablet at MWC, and the C1 is presented in the HIMSS conference (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), because the ToughBook C1 is primarily designed for the healthcare market.

The Apple iPad unveiled

Well, Apple has finally unveiled its iPad. What can we learn? Well, first of all the tablet comes with Safari, Mail, Photos, YouTube and YouTube HD, Maps, Notes, Calendar, Contacts, Spotlight and iPods, iTunes (which interface has specially been revised) and the App Store (almost like the iPhone…).

Silicon Alley Insider is a source introduced in the industry of mobile phones that Apple will demonstrate its tablet in January and asked a number of developers to prepare iPhone apps in high resolution.

The first possibility, that would end the endless bits of information that filter for months would be a public demo. Events devoted to Apple iPod and iPhone have been dominated by apps since the opening of the App Store. If Apple launches its tablet, they will need to show the apps available for the new device.

The second possibility, more likely, is that of a demo behind closed doors: the kind of private event that allows developers to get a head start before the public announcement, and the time to reinforce the interoperability between the iPhone and the new tablet.

The source of Silicon Alley Insider says that the device will not be available for sale immediately, coinciding with the release in March announced by the Wall Street Journal.

Packard Bell announced EasyNote Butterfly Touch Edition tablet PC. One of the most important features of this tablet PC is that it includes a capacitive touchscreen display that rotates at 180 degrees, and multitouch. The EasyNote Butterfly Touch Edition is available in red or black in February, from a price of £499, and specifications include:

Asus Eee Pad tablet on sale next March

Looks like the Asus Eee Pad tablet which was discussed recently, is equipped with NVIDIA Tegra when it will be released next March. According to rumors it will also have a multitouch display, and there is always hope for the Eee Pad in 4-inch and 7-inch screen size to meet different markets and different resolutions (720p and 1080p). As it is expected in March 2010, it is likely that the tablet will run on Android 2.0 instead of 1.5, as for most devices under Android today.

Packard Bell released its Butterfly Touch, a 11.6-inch tablet PC under an Intel CULV platform and Windows 7 for a price of 500 euros equipped with a touchscreen multitouch display. The Packard Bell Butterfly Touch tablet PC has a Pentium Dual Core SU4100 processor at 1.3 GHz, 2GB of DDR3 RAM (4GB max), SATA 320GB hard drive at 5400 rpm, an Intel GMA X4500MHD graphics card with 256 MB, a rotating touchscreen display of 11.6″ with LED backlight and a resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels, a 0.3 megapixel webcam with microphone, a 5-in-1 memory card reader and Wi-Fi b/g/n, HDMI (HDCP), Gigabit Ethernet and 3 USB 2.0 ports. It weighs 1.65 kg with its 6-cell battery which provides a battery life of 8 hours.

Onkyo NX707A4 7-inch tablet PC

Onkyo will release a new tablet netbook, the Onkyo NX707A4. The 7-inch tablet PC has a built-in GPS module, a touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, an Intel Atom Z520 processor clocked at 1.33GHz, 80GB of hard drive, 1GB of RAM, Intel US15W chipset, 2 USB ports, an ExpressCard/34 slot, SD/SDHC/MMC/Memory Stick Pro slots, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11n and a two webcams (3-megapixel and 0.3-megapixel webcams). This Onkyo NX707A4 runs under Windows 7 operating system. Additionally, the tablet netbook has a battery life of up to 3 hours. The tablet PC weighs 720g and measures 193 x 132 x 22mm, and it will be released in Japan during Christmas holiday for a price of $680.

Apple owns TabletMac trademark

It could be a ferocity from Apple to protect its brand, or it could be the clearest indication that we will soon see an Apple tablet. We can talk about Apple’s status as owner of the “TabletMac” trademark, which was transferred from Axiotron, which turns MacBook laptops into tablet PCs. So will we see a TabletMac Apple in 2010?
