Google SEO: loading speed of a site will be a new ranking factor

November 22nd, 2009 | Posted in Search Engine Optimization | 1 Comment »

google_logo_smallFor Matt Cutts and several Google employees, loading speed of a site could be a factor in rankings of sites in 2010. In an interview made by WebProNews at PubCon Vegas 2009, the Google engineer mentioned this information in the launch of Google Caffeine. Here is an excerpt from an article published on WebProNews.com:

« speed is going to be a huge factor in SEO moving in to 2010. He says that a number of people within Google consider speed to be very important to the web, and they are considering if that should play a role in the rankings of websites in search results.
According to Cutts, speed hasn’t played a role in rankings in the past, but that may very well change. »

You will therefore have to improve the loading speed of pages of your site. Even if this is not a factor in SEO, it contributes to the quality of your site. You may reduce the bounce rate. Choosing your web host will be decisive. Whether it’s a shared or dedicated hosting it will be more demanding about the quality of services.
