Cowon has decided to tease people with the W2 UMPC that works with the Intel Atom 1.33GHz processor and runs under Windows 7 (hopefully it will be fast enough). Other features include a touchscreen LCD 4.8-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, integrated speakers, USB, Ethernet and monitor output. We don’t have all the specifications so far. We hope you like the brushed aluminum design.
It’s at at CES that Viliv, in addition to introducing its S10 Blade, P3 or HD5, will unveil the N5. This is a MID with a touchscreen multitouch 4.8-inch display, a full sliding keyboard, the 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. No more details for now, stay tuned.
Here is a new mobile internet device, the MID500 from Inkia. This MID will have standard specifications as the Intel Atom Z510 processor clocked at 1.1GHz, touchscreen 5-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of SSD, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a VGA camera, a microSD memory card reader and two USB ports. Weighing 350 grams, this device runs on Windows XP or Windows 7. The 1850mAh Li-Ion battery should have a battery life of 3 hours. Interestingly, the Inkia MID500 is available at a price of around $370.
After the Vega, ICD (Innovative Converged Device) has unveiled the Ultra. This is a new touchscreen tablet that runs on Android 2.0 (Flash) with the NVIDIA Tegra platform with 256MB of RAM, and features a resistive touchscreen 7-inch display (1024 × 600 or 800 × 480), a storage space of 4GB, a microSDHC slot, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi, GPS (optional), USB host port, HDMI output, FM tuner, a 1.3-megapixel camera, an accelerometer and 3G (optional). Battery life is about 4 hours and its dimensions are 186 x 158 x 18mm for 600g. This tablet should be in demonstration at CES in a few days and will be offered at a price around $250.
eviGroup decided to redesign its next Wallet MID under Android for its upcoming release. The next Wallet has a frame with two colors, with a touchscreen 5-inch display (WVGA), with a webcam in front, right in the middle of the frame. It seems that the Wallet Android MID will debut next month – maybe at CES? Apart from the aesthetic side, nothing has changed.
At the Information Technology (IT) Month 2009 which took place in Taipei, Inventec has unveiled its N18. This is a MID that runs under Android, which has a WVGA touchscreen display of 4.8″, a hard drive of 250GB and a full keyboard, all at a weight of 250g. Price: $350.
Fujitsu has unveiled the LifeBook UH900, a UMPC with a touchscreen 5.6-inch display (1280 × 800 pixels), a full keyboard, an Intel Atom Z530 processor clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of DDR2-533 RAM, a Intel US15W GMA500 graphics chip, 64GB of SSD, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 3.5G (optional), a SD slot, two USB ports and a webcam, all under Windows 7 Home Premium. Its dimensions are 20.4 x 10.65 x 2.38cm.
The Chinese manufacturer Seed Industrial has unveiled a new MID, the HT560 is equipped with a touchscreen 5.6-inch display, a VIA C7 processor clocked at 1.0GHz, Windows XP, 16GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LAN, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, 1GB of RAM and an optional GPS. No idea for the price…
Not much info on this QiGi, a quad-band GSM/EDGE MID/SmartBook with a touchscreen display of 5″ (800 × 480 pixels), a capacity of 1GB, a microSD slot, a 3.2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, a GPS, a Marvell PXA310 processor at 624MHz with 256MB of RAM, all under Windows Mobile 6.1! Price: $330.
Jinbo in China, has unveiled its latest MID that includes a touch screen of 5″ and enough power to handle Windows XP. Under the hood, you’ll find an Intel Atom Z510 1.1GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of SSD, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and 3G integrated and optional Bluetooth 2.0. We don’t know when this Jinbo MID will be released, but it should first be released in China at a price around $578.
